Jo Ann Zerr, 70, of Montgomery City, passed away at 3:29 a.m. Sunday May 7, 2023, at her home.

Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday May 12, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Martinsburg with Father Philip Kane officiating. Burial will follow in Wellsville Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the church with a prayer service at 4:45 p.m. Myers Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Jo Ann was born April 18, 1953, in St. Charles. She was the daughter of Clarence and Berdella (Powers) Ochs. On September 23, 1972 in St. Charles, she married Vernon P. Zerr, who survives.

Jo Ann worked as a cook for Wellsville-Middletown R1 school district for 23 years. She was very well known for her delicious cinnamon rolls. She was a member of Resurrection Church in Wellsville and had been active in the women’s sodality. She also previously was active with the Young Farmers. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, being at the lake, shopping, traveling and spending time with family, especially the grandchildren.

In addition to her husband Vernon, survivors include one son, Jeffery P. Zerr (Kristal), of Montgomery City; one son-in-law, Matthew Lehnen, of Wellsville; two daughters, Wendy Van Horn (Chris), of Jonesburg, and Valerie Weiss (Mason), of Wentzville; four brothers, Robert Ochs (Nancy), of Arizona, Mark Ochs (Patricia), of St. Charles, Dennis Ochs (Lynn), of St. Peters, and Alan Ochs (Christina), of St. Peters; one sister, Charlotte Riley (Jack Jr.), of St. Peters; nine grandchildren, Zachary Lehnen (Tessa), of Troy, Blake Lehnen (Shelby), of Laddonia, Korrin, Jaylynn, Alaina, and Lydia Zerr, all of Montgomery City, Ella Van Horn, of Jonesburg, and Lily and Corbin Weiss, of Wentzville; and three great grandchildren, Chase, Carly and Logan Lehnen.

Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents, and one daughter, Michelle Lehnen.
