Joseph O. Abbott, 77, of New Florence, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2023 in Montgomery City.
Joseph was born in St. Louis on July 1, 1946, the son of the late Willis & Ruth (Edwards) Abbott.
Joseph was a heavy equipment operator in commercial construction. He spent 15 years in Alaska building the Alcan Highway. He was a member of the 513 Local Operators.
Joseph is survived by three sons, Joe Abbott of New Florence; Charles Abbott of Montgomery City; and Chauncy Abbott of Montgomery City; three grandchildren, Cayden, Miles and Kenzie; a brother, Jay Abbott, of Montgomery City; a sister, Kay McDonald & husband Dennis, of Payson, Ill., and his ex-wife and caretaker Linda Abbott. He is preceded in death by his parents and his infant twin sons, Jason and Joshua.
No services will be held at this time. Arrangements were under the direction of Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home in Hermann.
