Joseph Henry Hartwig passed away on May 1, 2024 at the age of 93 at Jonesburg Nursing and Rehab. Joseph was born October 28, 1930 in Florissant to Henry W. and Wilhelmine "Minnie" Hartwig nee Voss.
Joseph grew up in Florissant. In the 1960s, he moved to Jonesburg where he farmed. Joseph served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952-1954. Joseph enjoyed gardening, farming and watching the St. Louis Cardinals He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and various other extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Henry William Hartwig; mother, Minnie Hartwig; brother, William "Bill" Hartwig, Sr.; three sisters, Pauline Haupt, Hazel Stegmann and Esther Cahill.
A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on May 7 at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. Burial will be held at the cemetery.
