Courtwarming Week ended on a high note for Owen See and Eden Hoffman.
The Montgomery County sophomores were crowned the school’s courtwarming king and queen during a coronation ceremony on Feb. 15 at Ballew & Snell Court. They were part of a court that included seniors Karla Gonzalez and Sean Rodgers, juniors Aspen Wiggs and Kendrick Lewis, freshmen Kenley Wessel and Cohen Beattie and Wildcat candidates Jay Rodgers and Emma Rodgers.
Both Hoffman and See received their crowns from crown bearers Quynn Graves and Michael Sullivan.
“I’m very excited,” Hoffman said. “I was a little anxious leading up to it, but I’m really happy right now.”
“It’s surprising,” See said. “I didn’t expect to win. I enjoyed it.”
The coronation was held between the MCHS girls and boys basketball games against North Callaway. The event was presented by the MCHS Student Council.
Hoffman said all of the students enjoyed courtwarming week. Students had dress-up days throughout the week.
“It’s really good to bring the school and community together,” Hoffman said.
Hoffman is a member of the school’s FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) group and participates in the choir. She said she likes being part of the choir.
“I like going on trips that I’m offered to go to,’” Hoffman said. “I’m going to contests in a few weeks. I’m excited about that.”
See plays football and participates in track. He’s also a member of the FBLA group.
Last fall, See turned in his best season with the MCHS football team as he earned second-team strong safety/offensive linebacker honors.
“I was staying dedicated and I was doing the best that I could,” See said.
Steve Ousley and Maddy Queathem were last year’s courtwarming king and queen. They didn’t attend this year’s ceremony.
