Mildred Sue Oliver, 75, of Montgomery City, passed away peacefully on the morning of Friday, August 11, 2023, at her home.

Mildred was born in Vienna, Ill., on March 18, 1948, to William “Bill” Goddard and Dorothy (Fry) Goddard. Mildred married Duard Oliver on May 6, 1967 in Montgomery City. They have spent the last 56 loving years together. In those 56 years, they raised three daughters together: Tammie, Natalie and Amy. Mildred spent much of her time enjoying her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family was important to her, and she loved to be around them.

Mrs. Oliver retired from the Fulton State Hospital after many years of service as the supervisor of housekeeping. She also worked at Wal-Mart for a number of years and was a caretaker for several local Montgomery County residents. She also enjoyed watching scary movies, gardening, cooking, getting out of the house to go shopping and had an affinity for flowers and animals – especially her own dog, Ruby.

Mildred is survived by her husband, Duard Oliver, of the home; three daughters, Tammie (Steven See) Nelson of Wellsville, Natalie (Clint) Bethel of New Florence and Amy (Craig) Ford of Wellsville; grandchildren, Shannon (Mindy) Nelson, Corey Nelson, Dylan Bethel, Paige Bethel, Connor Bethel, Anna (Trevor Jones) Ford and Aaron Ford; great-grandchildren, Peyton and Kayden Schuble; and sisters, Donna Stuart and Phyllis (Michael) Schulte.

Mrs. Oliver was preceded in death by her parents, William “Bill” and Dorothy (Fry) Goddard.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Aug. 18 at Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, with Pastor Dawn Gerard officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Montgomery City. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. The casketbearers will include Eric Stuart, Shane Stuart, Brent Sheets, Joe Gotsch, Corey Johnson and Brian Rakers.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the family for funeral expenses or to Sunrise Memorial Gardens in care of Schlanker Funeral Home, 207 Danville Road, Montgomery City, Missouri 63361.
