The Montgomery Study Club held its annual Missouri Day on Oct. 21 as it hosted young Montgomery City students with tours of the Montgomery County Historical Museum.
The third Monday in October is designated as Missouri Day.
The Study Club has hosted students for a number of years and looks forward to this annual event. Each year, there are eager questions about the big variety of items on display in the themed rooms in the museum. As usual, some students found the old dolls in the toy room to be “creepy.” “How do you know the dolls are not haunted? was the top question this year.
They were also quite interested in the evolution of communications – the phone switchboard, particularly.
The military, medical and agricultural rooms – as well as all the rooms of local history – brought forth lots of questions. Many of the students had been to the museum before and they answered some of their friends’ queries.
The Study Club enjoys this project and would like to thank everyone who helped make it possible. Members attending were Patsy Speight, Kathy Holtz, Anita Davis, Lynne Sucher and Donna Fisher.
