On December 24, deputies were in the Jonesburg area when they observed a subject operating a vehicle whom they knew did not possess a valid driver’s license. Deputies initiated a traffic stop and through the course of the stop confirmed the subject did not have a valid driver’s license. Deputies also discovered the subject was in possession of a plastic baggie containing methamphetamine and miscellaneous drug paraphernalia. Additionally the deputies believed the subject to be under the influence of an illegal substance. The subject was arrested and transported to the MC Jail where a drug recognition expert (DRE) evaluation was conducted. The evaluation determined the subject was under the influence of a controlled substance. The subject was charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a motor vehicle without a license and driving while intoxicated (drugs).

On December 28, deputies responded to a domestic disturbance in New Florence involving the attempted taking of a small child. Deputies reported a male and female had been involved in an argument during which the male subject forcibly removed the child from the mother’s arms. While deputies were on scene speaking with the male subject, who was still holding the child, they observed signs that led them to believe he was intoxicated. During the interaction the male subject grabbed a kitchen knife and threatened to harm himself before allowing the mother to take the child. Deputies immediately disarmed the male subject, secured the child and attempted to take him into custody. The male subject actively resisted arrest but after a brief struggle deputies were able to arrest him without further incident. The male subject was transported to the MC Jail and charged with armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, domestic assault, endangering the welfare of a child and resisting arrest.
On December 29, deputies received information on the whereabouts of a male subject who had an active warrant out of Montgomery County for unlawful possession of a firearm. Deputies responded to a location in Danville, located the male subject and placed him under arrest without incident. The male subject was transported to the MC Jail and he was booked on the active warrant.
