On February 13, deputies responded to Bellflower for a domestic disturbance. Through the course of the investigation deputies learned that a couple had been involved in a verbal altercation while driving. The female passenger reportedly reached over and placed the vehicle in park while it was still moving. She then began damaging the victim’s truck, striking and cracking the windshield and forcibly removing the radio from the dashboard. The female was arrested and transported to the MC Jail, where she was charged with domestic assault and property damage.
Also on February 13, deputies responded to Casey’s General Store in New Florence for a report of a theft. During the investigation deputies reviewed surveillance footage and observed the subject stealing candy. Deputies recognized the subject and responded to his residence. After a brief conversation the subject admitted to stealing the candy and informed deputies that the partially eaten bag was in his room. While retrieving the bag deputies observed a methamphetamine pipe on top of a nightstand. The subject was arrested and transported to the MC Jail, where he was charged with stealing and possession of drug paraphernalia.
On February 14, deputies stopped a vehicle for failing to stop at a stop sign in the Jonesburg Area. Through the course of the stop deputies noted the driver displaying signs of intoxication. After conducting the standard field sobriety testing, the driver was arrested. The driver provided a sample of her breath showing a blood alcohol content of 0.154%. The driver was arrested, transported to the MC Jail and charged with driving while intoxicated and failing to stop at a stop sign.
On February 16, deputies responded to Hickory Wood Road for a report of trespassing and assault. During the investigation deputies learned that a former tenant arrived at the residence and discovered another woman inside the home. A brief physical altercation occurred between the two individuals. After they were separated one of the women left the scene in her vehicle. Deputies located the vehicle while responding to the call. Both subjects were arrested and transported to the MC Jail, where they were charged with assault.
Also on February 16, deputies received information regarding the whereabouts of a male subject with multiple outstanding warrants. Deputies responded to a residence on 2nd Street in Wellsville and made contact with the wanted individual. The male subject was arrested without incident and transported to the MC Jail where he was booked on the following warrants: Montgomery County warrant for drug trafficking and possession of a controlled substance ($5,000 cash-only bond). Montgomery County warrant for tampering with a motor vehicle, trespassing, and stealing ($5,000 cash-only bond). Audrain County warrant for delivery of a controlled substance into a County Jail ($10,000 cash-only bond).
On February 18, deputies conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of East Booneslick Road and Smith Street in Jonesburg after observing a vehicle fail to maintain the right half of the roadway. Upon contact deputies identified the driver as an adult female who had three juvenile children, ages 2, 7 and 9 in the vehicle. During the investigation deputies discovered an active child order of protection issued out of Callaway County prohibiting the driver from having contact with the 2-year-old child. While awaiting the arrival of a K9 unit, the driver attempted to hand a black bag to the 7-year-old child inside the vehicle. A Warren County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit responded to assist and conducted an exterior sniff of the vehicle resulting in a positive alert for narcotics.
A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of six individually packaged baggies containing a crystalline substance, multiple used and unused syringes, a digital scale with crystalline residue, numerous empty distribution-style baggies, cut straws commonly used to ingest narcotics, a tray containing crystalline residue and U.S. currency and additional paraphernalia consistent with narcotics distribution. Many of these items were located inside the black bag the driver attempted to hand to the 7-year-old child and were within reach of the children inside the vehicle. A field test identified the crystalline substance as methamphetamine. The driver was arrested and transported to the MC Jail. She was charged with delivery of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), multiple counts of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of an order of protection (child), three counts of endangering the welfare of a child in the first degree and failure to maintain the right half of the roadway.
