On February 28, deputies received a report of a careless and imprudent driver traveling on Interstate 70. Deputies located the suspect vehicle and observed it failing to maintain its lane. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle in the Danville area. Upon making contact with the driver deputies detected a strong odor of intoxicants coming from the driver and he displayed several signs of intoxication.
While speaking with deputies the driver stated he had been at a bar in St. Louis and was headed home, which was also in St. Louis. After conducting a standardized field sobriety test, the driver was arrested and transported to the MC Jail, where he provided a breath sample that indicated a blood alcohol concentration of 0.152%. The driver was subsequently charged with driving while intoxicated.
On March 2, officers with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, East Central Drug Task Force and the Jonesburg Police Department executed a search warrant at a residence on Arlington Street in Jonesburg, as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation. During the search officers located a container with a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine along with small plastic baggies commonly used for packaging narcotics for distribution. While investigating the property deputies received information that the suspect was at a nearby residence approximately one block away. Deputies located the suspect walking in the area, attempted to make contact and the suspect fled on foot. Deputies gave chase and caught the suspect, after a brief struggle the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
A search of the suspect revealed multiple smaller plastic baggies containing suspected methamphetamine, totaling approximately 15 grams. A field test of the substance returned a positive result for methamphetamine. The methamphetamine was packaged in quantities consistent with distribution. Additional items located during the investigation included a digital scale, pipes, drug paraphernalia and additional packaging materials commonly used in narcotics distribution. The suspect, a 41-year old man from Jonesburg, was transported to the Montgomery County Jail and charged with delivery of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia.
On March 3, deputies observed a vehicle being driven by a subject known to have a revoked driver’s license. During the course of the traffic stop deputies confirmed that the driver’s driving privileges were revoked. The driver was arrested and transported to the MC Jail, where he was charged with driving while revoked.
Case solved and probable cause statements submitted on a 44-year old man from Montgomery City for the following charges; 12 counts of receiving stolen property. On March 2, deputies completed an investigation that began in December 2025 after responding to a welfare check in the Danville area. During that time the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office had taken a subject into custody for breaking into a storage locker. The individual told authorities he had recently been involved in a domestic incident with his girlfriend at their residence in the Danville area.
As deputies continued the investigation, they discovered the subjects were in possession of methamphetamine, scales and other drug paraphernalia. Deputies also located 12 U.S. savings bonds that were issued in another person’s name. Further investigation revealed the savings bonds had been stolen from a storage locker in St. Charles County. Several additional items located at the residence were also later identified as stolen from that same locker. Deputies returned to the residence and seized the stolen property.
Through effective cooperation between the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office, St. Charles County authorities, Wentzville Police Department, St. Peters Police Department, St. Charles Police Department and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, multiple theft investigations across several jurisdictions were cleared. The suspect now faces the above charges in Montgomery County, along with additional charges related to theft investigations in all jurisdictions.
