On March 13, deputies observed a vehicle in the New Florence area being operated with expired license plates. A traffic stop was conducted and upon making contact with the driver deputies discovered he had an active warrant for his arrest out of Franklin County. The driver was arrested and transported to the MC Jail.
Also on March 13, deputies conducted a traffic stop in the Jonesburg area after observing a vehicle failing to dim its headlights. During the stop deputies determined the driver’s driving privileges were suspended out of the State of Ohio due to alcohol-related offenses. The driver was arrested, transported to the MC Jail and charged with operating a motor vehicle without a valid license and failing to dim high beams.
On March 14, deputies responded to a report of a physical domestic disturbance in the Middletown area. It was reported that a male subject had slapped a female several times before leaving the residence. While responding deputies located the suspect’s vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. During the investigation deputies observed evidence consistent with the reported assault and the suspect admitted to slapping, spitting on and pushing the female. The suspect was arrested, transported to the MC Jail and charged with domestic assault.
Aso on March 14, deputies conducted a traffic stop in the New Florence area on a vehicle displaying license plates belonging to another vehicle. During the stop the occupants provided false identifying information and were acting nervous. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a loaded handgun with a 30-round magazine on the front seat floorboard. Deputies also located numerous small baggies of packaged marijuana along with approximately $4,000 in cash inside a backpack in the trunk. The driver was arrested, transported to the MC Jail and charged with delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful use of a weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia.
On March 16, 2026 deputies responded to a residence off Fordson Road for a disturbance after the reporting party advised that a male subject in her residence was threatening her with a firearm. Upon arrival deputies located the reporting party sitting outside in her vehicle. Deputies attempted to make contact with the male subject inside the residence. During this time the female exited her vehicle became very upset and started yelling as she tried to make entry into the residence. Deputies attempted to stop her at which point she assaulted a deputy by slapping him several times. As deputies attempted to restrain her, she struck another deputy and continued to resist. Once the female was taken into custody deputies made contact with the male subject, who denied any knowledge of a firearm. The female was transported to the MC Jail and charged with assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest and interference with a first responder.
On March 18, deputies responded to a residence in Montgomery City for a report of a male subject knocking on both the front and back doors. Upon arrival deputies observed an SUV backing out of the driveway and conducted a traffic stop. The driver immediately became argumentative stating deputies were on private property and needed to leave. Through the course of the investigation deputies determined the driver did not reside at the address and did not possess a valid driver’s license. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a plastic container containing approximately 2.5 grams of methamphetamine. The driver was arrested, transported to the MC Jail and charged with delivery of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while revoked.
On March 19, at approximately 10:36 p.m., deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office along with multiple fire agencies and the Montgomery County Ambulance District, responded to a reported residential structure fire in the New Florence area with possible occupants inside. Upon arrival first responders observed the residence fully engulfed in flames. Deputies and emergency personnel attempted to make entry through the rear of the home but were unable to proceed due to heavy smoke and fire conditions. Fire personnel arrived shortly thereafter and conducted a search of the residence. During that search one adult male was located inside the home and removed. Emergency medical personnel initiated life-saving measures; however, the individual was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Preliminary investigation indicates no signs of foul play at this time. The Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office has been requested and is conducting the fire origin and cause investigation. The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office is assisting in the investigation. The incident remains under investigation. No further information is being released at this time.
