New R-II staff eager for start

When she was a student at Ozark High School, Eva Rasey was passionate about family and consumer sciences.

“I loved it,” Rasey said. “I took a lot of courses in high school. It’s just really hands on. I really liked the career and tech education classes. They prepare you for the real world.”

Now, Rasey will be teaching the subject at Montgomery County Middle School for the 2022-23 school year.

“I’m really excited to share my love for FACS with the kids,” Rasey said.

Rasey will also be one of 10 new teachers in the Montgomery County R-II School District. They will spend their first day of work on Aug. 23.

The other new teachers are Lindsey Duncan, Jessica Eversmeyer, Lori Farrar, Garrett Gifford, Lynette Gray, Leslie Henke, Lexi Isaak, George Coy Rollins IV and Kyle Schroer. All of the new teachers had orientation for two days on Aug. 11 and 12.

“It’s wonderful to meet the new teachers, especially the ones you’re going to work so closely with,” said Eversmeyer, who will teach special education at Montgomery City Elementary School.

Eversmeyer worked as a teacher of record – an educator who has been assigned the lead responsibility for a student’s learning in a subject/course section – for the last half of the 2021-22 school year. She said she’s looking forward to working with the children.

“I can’t wait to see all of the kids again,” Eversmeyer said.

Rasey will be a teacher of record in her first year of MCMS. She plans to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in family and consumer sciences from Missouri State University in December.

“I’m excited to help the kids get ready and gain the skills that they can use through their whole lives,” Rasey said.

Rasey also will be the new adviser of the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) group at MCMS.

“I came up with a couple of things that I can help them do, but it’s a student-led organization,” Rasey said. “Hopefully, they’re motivated. I’m hoping to recruit a lot of members at the FCCLA, bring a lot of positivity to the community, help them with their projects and help them be competitive with those.”

Isaak will join Eversmeyer at MCE as she will work as a third-grade teacher. She graduated from Hermann High School and Central Methodist University.

Isaak did some student teaching at the Gasconade County R-I School District that helped prepare her for her new job.

“I’m really excited. I can’t wait to meet all of my little ones and get to know them better,” Isaak said.
