With the 2025-26 school year underway, Jonesburg Elementary School has a new look.
JBE began its classes on Aug. 19 with renovated classrooms on the west wing of the building, which is the original end of the school. The classrooms got new storage units and cabinetry that was done by Brandkamp Cabinets in Montgomery City.
“It’s all possible because of the bond issue (from last year) that passed,” JBE Principal Jenny Krattli said. “We’re very happy.”
Krattli gave tours of the west wing of the building, which houses classrooms from grades 3-5, on Aug. 13. The construction project lasted most of the summer. Students got a chance to look at the new rooms during JBE’s Open House on Aug. 14.
“I feel like we got a lot done,” Krattli said.
Krattli started her ninth year at JBE on Aug. 19. She said the school has made so many improvements since she started working there in 2017.
“When I started here, we had window units,” Krattli said. “Then we got the rooftop units, but there was a big blue sock. Now, it’s built in. We got new windows, so every classroom has a window that opens completely in case there’s an intruder and we have to get out quickly.”
Krattli said it’s the first time the classrooms on the west wing of the building were reconstructed.
“We’ve been working on it with PSI and started with (former R-II superintendent) Dr. (Tracy) Bottoms and Ned (Stille) our maintenance director,” Krattli said. “They have been planning and doing all of the decision making so this could get done in three months. It’s awesome. I think the teachers are excited.”
JBE’s staff for the 2025–26 school year includes Amanda Davis (third grade), Paige Hillebrand (fourth grade), Kristin Scott (fourth grade), Jenna Fitzgerald (fifth grade), Alayna Parmalee (instructional coach), Sheridan Temperly (interventionist), Jessica Davis (art), Bailey Mabry (music), Rhonda Vicente (kindergarten), Cathy Weatherford (first grade), Keri Rhodes (special education), Lacy Gambill (counselor), Jeanette Ventimiglia (preschool/Title I reading), Angel Davis (librarian) and Mya Loehrer (second grade).
