Eight months after it was open for business, Trader Bob’s in Jonesburg will have its grand reopening on Sept. 15.
Raphael Robert Crews, also known as Bob, is already excited for it.
“We want to introduce ourselves to the town because we’re just not going to be a store,” Crews said. “We’re going to be here to help the town.”
Crews and Jesse Dent share ownership of the store, which sells scented candles, jewelry, toys, tools, electronics, hats and vaping products and attempts to provide outstanding customer service.
“We’re trying to constantly upgrade the place and get new stuff and make things better,” Dent said. “If people want us to carry a certain thing and if they want us to help, we’re here to help. I get so many people every week who come in here and need help.”
Trader Bob’s, which is located at 201 W. Booneslick Rd., has been open for business since January 15. Crews dedicated the new business to his 89-year-old mother, Barbara.
“This is my mom’s store,” Crews said. “I made it for her. It’s not mine.”
Trader Bob’s is open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Dent said the store has already made plans for its grand reopening.
“With the grand reopening, our back room is finally going to be finished,” Dent said. “It’s going to be loaded up with over three pallets worth of inventory. We’re going to be having some different deals. A lot of them are 50 percent off.”
Dent said patrons will also get to spin a colored wheel to receive prizes if they spend a certain amount on merchandise at the store.
Dent and Crews have known each other for seven years. Crews, who is 64, has been a businessman for many years, while Dent used to make his living by traveling around Missouri and other states and selling candles at craft shows and flea markets.
