Wellsville-Middletown boys basketball at sectionals

The Wellsville-Middletown boys basketball team won its Class 2, District 5 sectional contest against the Cairo Bulldogs in thrilling fashion on March 2 at Montgomery County High School, winning 57-56 on a shot by Clayton Ebers as time expired. With the win, the Tigers advanced to the state quarterfinals for the second time in three years. W-M came back from a 13-point deficit to beat Cairo, which finished 24-2. Ebers finished with 21 points, Logan Pursifull scored 11 and Keaton Mayes added 10 for the Tigers, who were scheduled to play Salisbury in the quarterfinals on March 5 at MCHS. THEO TATE PHOTOS
