The Montgomery County and Wellsville-Middletown boys and girls basketball teams will begin practice on Nov. 4 as well as many other winter sports teams in Missouri.
The MCHS boys basketball team starts its season on Nov. 26 with a road game against Fatima. Last year, the Wildcats finished with 25 wins and placed fourth in the Class 3 Show-Me Showdown.
The Wildcats begin their girls basketball season on Nov. 22 at Monroe City. The MCHS girls finished with winning records in each of the last seven years, including a 22-win campaign last winter.
Both W-M boys and girls teams will have new coaches this season. Josh Albregts will take over for Steve Lasman on the boys team, while Lasman will coach the girls squad, replacing Todd Cripe, who retired after the 2023-24 school year.
The W-M boys and girls will start their seasons at Community R-6 on Nov. 26. Last year, the girls finished 13-13, while the boys had just two wins.
