The Montgomery County boys basketball team will look to finish with another successful season this winter.
This time, the Wildcats have to do it with a new coach.
Dustin Figg takes over head coaching duties for the MCHS boys for the 2025-26 season, replacing Scott Kroeger, who is now the head boys basketball coach at St. Charles West after heading the MCHS program for seven years. Figg worked as assistant at MCHS for the last three years before being promoted.

The Dustin Figg era starts at 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 22, when the Wildcats take on Hallsville in the Central Christian College of the Bible Shootout in Moberly.
Figg takes over a MCHS team that lost seven players to graduation, including all-state players Clayton Parker and Andrew Moore. But it returns several players, including seniors Chase Queathem, Adrian Combs, Colby Ellis, Cooper Sellenriek, Lyric Kemp and Seth Walton and freshman Jackson Benney.
Queathem, Combs, Ellis and Benney are currently playing with the MCHS football team as it competes in a Class 2 state quarterfinal game against St. Pius X of Festus, which is also scheduled for Nov. 22.
The other seniors on the team include Wyatt March, Karter Reagan and Kennith Johnson.
MCHS finished with a 28-2 record last winter, its sixth consecutive winning season. The Wildcats also won two regular season tournament championships, a district crown and an Eastern Missouri Conference crown. Their hopes of going back to the Class 3 Show-Me Showdown for the second year in a row ended with a loss to Principia in the state quarterfinals.
The Wildcats came up one win shy of a school record for most wins in a season. They started their season with 11 straight wins before losing to Union High School in Tulsa, Okla., in the semifinals of the Great 8 Classic in Jefferson City in late December. MCHS bounced back with a 17-game winning streak before that streak snapped with a loss to Principia in the quarterfinals.
