Both boys and girls teams will be playing the Macon Tigers at the Peak/Sport and Spine Shootout at Moberly Area Community College. The boys contest is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., while the girls game will be played at 4 p.m.

The Montgomery County basketball teams will wrap up their 2025 portion of their schedules with a trip to Moberly on Dec. 29.
Both boys and girls teams will be playing the Macon Tigers at the Peak/Sport and Spine Shootout at Moberly Area Community College. The boys contest is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., while the girls game will be played at 4 p.m.
MCHS is one of numerous schools that are competing in the boys and girls divisions in the two-day shootout. The other schools are Hallsville, Canton, Fayette, La Plata, Highland, South Shelby, Highland, Higbee, Cairo, Westran, Van-Far and Moberly. Blair Oaks (girls), Troy Buchanan (boys) and Fayette (boys) will each send one team to the shootout.
The MCHS girls will compete in the shootout for the third year in a row. Last year, they beat host-Moberly 42-37. The year before, they lost the Spartans 53-45 in their first appearance at the Moberly Shootout.
The MCHS boys will compete in the Moberly Shootout for the first time. Last year, they competed in shootouts at the University of Missouri and St. Louis University High and a tournament at Jefferson City High School.
The Wildcats will take on a Macon basketball program that finished with losing seasons in both boys and girls divisions last year. The Macon girls were 7-19 and the Macon boys were 6-19.
The MCHS girls will play Macon for the first time 2021, when they lost to the Tigers 64-53 in a Class 4, District 7 semifinal game that was played at Macon High School.
The MCHS boys and girls will start their New Year on Jan. 2 by competing in another shootout at Tipton. Both teams will play the Miller Cardinals in the Tipton Shootout.
Last year, MCHS defeated Chadwick 63-49 in the boys contest and lost to Miller 63-47 in the girls game.
