The Montgomery County Wildcats had three players earn all-Eastern Missouri Conference honors for the 2025-26 basketball season.
Senior Adrian Combs, junior Aubrey Janes and sophomore Emma Rodgers represented the Wildcats on this year’s team. Janes and Rodgers received their second straight all-EMO award, while Combs earned all-league honors for the first time.
Combs was the only MCHS player on the all-EMO boys basketball team. He was named on the second team and was one of nine seniors on the all-conference squad.
Combs was the Wildcats’ top scorer for most of the season. He turned in several strong performances, including a 26-point effort in the Wildcats’ 71-60 win over Louisiana in a senior night game on Feb. 13 at Ballew & Snell Court and a 22-point effort in MCHS’ 55-51 loss to Elsberry in its home finale on Feb. 17.
Combs, who played his second year with the varsity this winter, scored 17 points in the Wildcats’ 63-46 win over Silex in their conference opener on Dec. 12, 14 against Mark Twain on Feb. 10 and 11 against Wellsville-Middletown in the Pink Out game on Dec. 19.
Combs’ team finished 5-5 in EMO play. The Wildcats stormed to a 3-0 start in league play before losing 55-42 to Bowling Green at home on Jan. 20, snapping their 43-game EMO winning streak. MCHS came into this season as the three-time conference champion.
Bowling Green won the EMO championship with a 9-1 record.
Janes and Rodgers were selected on the first team of the all-EMO girls basketball squad. A year ago, Janes was named on the first team and Rodgers earned second-team honors.
Rodgers was one of five unanimous picks on the all-conference team, joining Trinity Chatman of Louisiana, Falyn Davidson of Elsberry and Charleigh Spoonster and Ashlyn Noah of Clopton. She was also one of four sophomores on the all-EMO team.
Janes and Rodgers provided the 1-2 scoring punch for the Wildcats for most of the season. They turned in outstanding efforts in conference play, with Rodgers scoring in double figures nine times and Janes eight times.
Rodgers set a school record in one of the conference games, which was against Van-Far on Feb. 2. She scored 37 points to break the program’s single-game record of 36 that was set by Gina Gregory in 1982. She also scored 26 points against Wellsville-Middletown, 17 against Elsberry, 18 against Mark Twain, 16 against Clopton, 11 against Wright City, 15 against Bowling Green, 23 against North Callaway and 15 against Silex.
Janes, who has been playing varsity since she was a freshman, scored a career-high 30 points in the Wildcats’ 58-42 win over Mark Twain on Feb. 10. She also scored 12 against Elsberry, 14 against Louisiana, 10 against Clopton, 16 against Wright City, 17 against Bowling Green and 21 against Silex.
The Wildcats finished 7-3 in conference play. They started their league play on Dec. 15 with a loss to Silex before winning their next five games. MCHS also lost games to Louisiana and eventual EMO champion Clopton.
