The Montgomery County Ambulance District held its second annual pediatric specialty training on Oct. 26. The district is grateful to Montgomery County High School for opening its doors and hosting the event. Children aren’t just small adults, and when a child is sick or hurt, every second and every skill counts.
That’s why the district brought in some of the best organizations in the region to train alongside our crews: Survival Flight, St. Louis Children’s Hospital, Warren County Ambulance District, SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital and EMS for Children (EMS-C).
The providers were rotating through hands-on stations covering: Pediatric airway management, neonatal care, seizure management, ventilator and trach care and STARs program review.
A huge thanks to the instructors who gave their time and expertise and to the district’s crew for showing up to sharpen their skills for the youngest patients in our community. The district also wants to thank the outside agencies who joined us to train. Pediatric emergencies don’t stop at district lines, and learning side by side makes the whole region stronger.
