It is nearing that time of year when individuals will be asked to give to help meet needs in Montgomery County. Montgomery County Cares will be collecting donations at the 4-way stop in Montgomery City from 9 a.m.-noon on Nov. 14.
Then, beginning on Nov. 21 and continuing until Dec. 12, customers at Bratchers Market will be greeted by individuals representing Montgomery County Cares near the main entrance, standing by a blue tripod kettle and shaking a tambourine.
MCC exists to help meet the needs of residents of Montgomery County faced with eviction, shut-off notices and similar emergency needs. All monies collected are utilized locally assisting only county residents.
Last year, MCC provided over $18,527 to meet local needs. Sadly, the need for assistance never goes away. Contributions during the holiday season, plus donations by individuals, civic organizations and churches throughout the year, will go only toward assisting local needs. MCC is a 501-c-3 organization, totally volunteer based, with no staff, headquarters or overhead expenses. Less than 3% of all monies collected annually are utilized for other purposes other than meeting the needs of county residents. To continue to fulfill its purpose, MCC needs generous giving from the residents.
