Five Montgomery County and four Wellsville-Middletown basketball players earned all-district honors for the 2022-23 season.
There were two different all-district basketball teams – the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association all-district team and the Northeast Missouri all-district basketball team.
For MCHS, juniors Malia Rodgers, Maddy Queathem and Olivia Shaw were named to the MBCA Class 3, District 7 all-district girls squad. Rodgers was named the district’s player of the year and MCHS coach Joe Basinger earned district coach of the year honors. The Wildcats won the Class 3, District 7 title this year by beating Hermann in the finals on Feb. 25.
Sophomores Clayton Parker and Isaiah Thomas were named to the MBCA Class 3, District 7 all-district boys team. They were on a squad that included players from Hermann, North Callaway and South Callaway. The Wildcats lost to North Callaway in the district semifinals.
Junior Bethany Slovensky and sophomores Hallie Guzy and Keigan Hall were W-M’s representatives on the MBCA Class 1, District 10 all-district girls team. They led the Tigers to a trip to the district championship game, where they lost to Community R-6.
Senior Logan Pursifull was the Tigers’ lone representative on the MBCA Class 2, District 5 all-district boys team. Pursifull missed the first part of the season due to an ACL injury before coming back in early January.
Rodgers and Queathem were named to the Class 3 Northeast District girls team. Rodgers was named on the first team and Queathem earned second-team honors.
Parker was the only MCHS player on the Class 3 Northeast District boys team, earning first-team honors.
Slovensky was named on the second team of the Class 1 Northeast District girls squad.
