Eight Montgomery County area basketball players earned all-district honors for the 2024-2025 season.
Six of those players were from Montgomery County and two of them were from Wellsville-Middletown. Seniors Clayton Parker, Andrew Moore, Aliviah Fischer and Jay Rodgers, sophomore Aubrey Janes and freshman Emma Rodgers were the Wildcats’ district representatives, while seniors Cooper Henderson and Gage Marshall won all-district awards for the Tigers.
Parker, Moore and Rodgers were named on the all-Class 3, District 7 boys basketball team. They helped the Wildcats win the district championship on Feb. 28 at South Callaway High School.
MCHS defeated Hermann 58-41 in the finals and North Callaway 82-35 in the semifinals. The Wildcats won their second straight district title.
Parker earned all-district honors for the fourth time. He also was named district player of the year for the second year in a row. He scored 30 points in two games at the district tournament, scoring 12 points against North Callaway in the semifinals and 18 against Hermann in the finals.
Moore received his third all-district award. He was named to the all-Class 6, District 4 team the last two years while he was playing at Troy Buchanan. He was voted district player of the year in 2024. This year, he scored 32 points in two games at districts, including a 21-point effort against North Callaway in the semifinals.
Rodgers was named to the all-district team for the first time. He scored 17 points in two games, including 11 against North Callaway.
Also, MCHS coach Scott Kroeger was named district coach of the year for the second year in a row and the third time in four years.
Fischer, Rodgers and Janes were named on the all-Class 3, District 7 girls basketball team. They helped the Wildcats reach the finals of the district championship game, where they lost to Centralia. All of them earned their first all-district awards.
Janes was the Wildcats’ leading scorer in the district tournament at Centralia with 26 points in two games, including 20 points against North Callaway in the semifinals. Fischer finished with 17 points, including 11 points against North Callaway. Rodgers had a seven-point effort against Centralia in the finals and was the only freshman named to the all-district team.
The MCHS girls defeated North Callaway 45-31 in the semifinals and lost to Centralia 64-19 in the finals. They fell to Centralia in the district championship game for the second year in a row.
Henderson and Marshall were named on the all-Class 1, District 10 boys basketball team. Both earned their first all-district awards. Their W-M boys team defeated Bevier 59-31 in the semifinals and lost to Cairo 72-44 in the semifinals. The district tournament was played at Madison High School.
Marshall was the Tigers’ leading scorer in districts with 40 points, finishing with 25 against Bevier and 15 against Cairo. Henderson had 23 in districts, including 19 against Bevier.
