On September 25, deputies responded to Highway 19 for a report of a reckless driver. The reporting party, an off-duty Warren County Deputy, advised the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and following other vehicles too closely. Upon arrival in the area deputies observed the vehicle following another vehicle too closely and initiated a traffic stop. The driver was issued a citation for careless and imprudent driving.

On September 27, deputies conducted a traffic stop in the New Florence area for following too closely and failing to maintain their lane. During the course of the traffic stop deputies determined that the driver and passenger were in the United States illegally. The passenger fled from the traffic stop on foot. With the assistance of our drone pilot and a Warren County K9, the subject was located hiding in a grassy area nearby. Both subjects were arrested and transported to the MC Jail. ICE subsequently placed immigration detainers on both subjects.

On September 28, deputies responded to a residence in Big Spring for a reported domestic disturbance. The reporting party advised that a male subject at the residence had choked her and was acting erratically. During the course of the investigation, the victim stated she did not wish to assist with prosecution, and deputies were unable to locate any evidence to corroborate her allegations. Deputies were able to de-escalate the situation and the male subject agreed to stay at a friend’s residence for the night. Deputies transported the male subject to Hermann for the night.

On September 29, deputies were notified of a missing 14-year-old female juvenile after her parents reported that she had never gotten off the school bus. During the course of the investigation deputies determined that the juvenile had not boarded the bus after school and may have left with other students. Deputies canvassed the area and contacted several of the juvenile’s friends in an effort to locate her. Several hours later, during the early morning hours, deputies located the missing juvenile with two other juveniles in the Montgomery City Cemetery.

On September 30, deputies stopped a vehicle for speeding on Highway 161 near Sunbeam. During the course of the traffic stop deputies conducted a search of the vehicle. During the search deputies located methamphetamine, syringes containing approximately 30 units of a liquid believed to contain methamphetamine and small baggies commonly used for the distribution of controlled substances inside the passenger’s bag. The passenger was arrested, transported to the MC Jail and charged with delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On October 1, deputies assisted the Jonesburg Police Department with a child custody dispute. During the investigation deputies learned the juvenile’s father was enroute to pick up the child and may be under the influence of drugs. Upon arrival, the father was operating a pickup truck displaying a license plate assigned to a passenger vehicle. Upon contact with the driver deputies observed signs indicating he was under the influence of drugs. Deputies conducted standardized field sobriety testing, which the driver performed poorly on. A Drug Recognition Expert was utilized and determined the driver was under the influence of a Central Nervous System (CNS) stimulant. The driver was arrested, transported to the MC Jail and charged with driving while intoxicated (Drugs).

Also on October 1, deputies stopped a vehicle on Highway 19 near Wellsville in reference to an assault that had occurred in Montgomery City. During the traffic stop deputies observed the driver displaying signs of intoxication. The driver admitted he should not be driving and requested that deputies take him home. Standardized field sobriety testing was conducted, which the driver performed poorly on. The driver was subsequently administered a breath test, which showed a BAC of .186%. The driver was arrested, transported to the MC Jail and charged with driving while intoxicated.

Again on October 1, deputies were patrolling Cemetery Road when they observed a vehicle being operated in a careless manner. During the course of the traffic stop deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and located approximately 13.5 ounces of marijuana, 1.8 grams of methamphetamine and 16.5 grams of psilocybin mushrooms. Both adults were arrested, transported to the MC Jail and charged with trafficking drugs, delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a vehicle without a valid license, resisting arrest, endangering the welfare of a child and careless and imprudent driving.
